Nana and Papa visit

Nana and Papa visited from Florida this weekend. We all had a great time and Alexis enjoyed having some new people to play with. We spent Saturday afternoon at the Children's Museum and Alexis was able to run around and do several different activites. It was a very neat place for kids. (There was a space travel theme so Alexis was able to wear a spacesuit; very cute on all the kids) Sunday was a nice warm, sunny day so we played outside on the swingset and just took in the warm weather. It's amazing how fast the weekends go. It was great having Nana and Papa here but we were all sad that they had to leave. At least we'll be traveling to Florida in a few weeks for a long weekend. I'm definitely looking forward to a few days off of work. The beach and pool will be nice too.

Alexis the Gardener

Alexis has taken a new liking to gardening lately. Dean's mom got Alexis her own gardening set with tools, gloves and even a mat to neal down on. It was pretty amazing that she knew what to do without even watching anyone. She must think we're crazy giving her things that she's allowed to play in the dirt with when I'm always yelling at her to stay out of the dirt and mud. Boy, is growing up confusing.

I can't turn around

Why is it that whenever I need to leave the room for a moment, Alexis decides to unleash her wrath. I sware she is a tornado. We call her the "destroyer" around here. I mean she moves 100 miles an hour and doesn't know the meaning of "cleaning up". I try to make it a game by singing the clean up song but when that doesn't work I have to use bribery. I don't like to think that I have to bribe my daughter to get her to listen to me but you gotta do what you gotta do right? Sometimes I have to laugh because I spend half of my afternoons after work following her around cleaning up. I didn't realize I was so anal about a clean house. I guess I need to realize that the only time my house will be clean is nap time or after she goes to bed. Well I guess there are worse things.

A day at the Kiddie Park

This weekend Alexis and I met Lea and her little boy Andrew at the Kiddie Park for a day of fun and adventure. This park is great for little ones because all of the rides are for kids 50" and under. There are no big kids bullying their way to be the first in line. There are a variety of rides from cars to boats to a merry go round. Needless to say we all had a great time. Here are some pictures of our day at the park.

Mommy and her little girl

I do it Mommy

For the past few weeks, we have been at the "I do it myself mommy" stage. Alexis cannot have any help with anything or all hell breaks loose. I guess they call this the Independent stage. She has to walk down the stairs, up the stairs, back down the stairs, zip up her coat, put on her shoes, brush her teeth. She is even starting to take off her clothes; and occassionaly put them back on. It's only a matter of time before she's running the streets naked. I guess it does help with potty training though. (Why didn't anyone tell me how fun potty training would be) Her favorite thing to do lately is drive our cars. Ok not really. But she does love to sit in the front seat and push all of the buttons. Everytime we get in the car, it's "mommy I drive". It's hard to keep breaking her heart and tell her no, not this time honey. With all of this independence, it is nice when she picks up her broom and starts cleaning the floor. Next I'm going to teach her to dust. I hate dusting.

Dancing Queen

Alexis has become quite the little dancer. I don't know if you moms are familiar with "The Wiggles" but Alexis loves them. Her favorite song is "Hot Potato" and here are a few of her favorite moves. (and no she doesn't get her dancing skills from me) Enjoy.

Alexis the Mommy

Alexis cannot go anywhere without her baby (or at least one of them). She has to have her purse, diaper bag, bottle, blanket.....and she has to carry them all at the same time. She's quite the mommy. She loves to change their diapers too, although she needs help putting them back on. I was surprised to find small baby diapers at the store that actually fit these babies. I think I have a girly girl so far; not that there's anything wrong with that. She's just not that interested in the ball and glove yet. She'd rather have her purse with her sunglasses on and when she's ready, she says "Let's go shopping mommy". There's still time right?

Finishing our Basement

So Dean and I have been very busy the past several weeks. We've been working on finishing half of our basement to make an extra playroom for Alexis. Sometimes looking at all her toys in the family room is just too much. We finally finished this past weekend with the carpet being installed on Monday. When we look back at what it used to look like, I wonder why it took us so long to do something like this. These are 2 pictures of a before and after the work. We ordered new furniture for upstairs so we'll move the couch down when the new couch gets delivered. I'm just glad it's done.

No more church!!!!

We had a very nice Easter this past weekend. We had church almost everyday last week (Alexis was baptized Greek Orthodox). Alexis seemed to enjoy everytime she went; up until the last day. Every morning she would wake up asking to go to church. "Mommy, I go church?" I would say, yes Alexis we have church today. She loved to go and play with her cousin climbing on and off the pews. . By the fifth day or so, she wound up saying "No more church mommy". I think she got her fill for a while.

Kissing cousins

So, does anyone else have children that enjoy kissing their cousins as much as my daughter and her cousing Andrew? Boy, everytime I turn around she's smooching another boy. I think Dean and I are going to have our hands full. Daddy already said no dating until she's 21.

I love bubbles

Alexis has decided that she is not a big fan of bubbles. That is after the fact that she poured the entire bottle of bubbles into tub. After she threw her 2 minute fit, she settled down and seemed to enjoy her bathtime. I finished the bath slightly more wet than she and I wasn't even in the tub. Oh well, at least she's clean.

Welcome to the world of blogging

So, out of my group of friends, I think I am one of the last ones to not have a blog. I really enjoy reading the daily happenings from everyone's life that I figured I might as well jump on board. I am no where near as creative or humorous, but I know it will be a good way to keep in touch with everyone and keep up with daily lives. So here we go.
